Estojo para lápis - Pencil case/wrap

Os meus tímidos passos na costura têm dado frutos! Comecei por fazer umas capinhas para livro, para uma parceria que está a nascer com o Japão e essa experiência deu-me pica para avançar para outro projecto que tinha na calha há algum tempo: Os estojos para artista!

My shy first steps in the art of sewing are paying off! I started with book covers, for a partnership that is slowly starting between me and Japan, and that experience has given me the strenght to start something else: The artist's pencil case/ pencil wrap!

 Pormenor/ Detail

Ainda não tratei da parte do fecho deste "crepe" - que ainda é um protótipo - mas esse é um pormenor que já está pensado, provavelmente usando uma fita que se enrole e dê um laço.

As it is still a prototype, I haven't done anything to keep this wrap closed, but I thought of the solution: probably something to roll around it and close with a knot.

Estou doida para fazer mais estojos destes, sobretudo usando outros tecidos! Aqui fica a versão turquesa e creme, que ainda não está acabada.

I'm crazy to make some more, and to use nice colorful fabrics! Here is the turquoise and beije version, still in construction.

Avó Soledade

A minha avó materna faleceu em Outubro de 2012 e desde então que eu andava à procura deste desenho para juntar ao post que fiz nessa data. Na semana passada encontrei-o num saco de desenhos vários e finalmente 2 anos e 3 meses depois aqui está ele!

Esta frase foi o que me motivou a fazer este desenho, numa altura em que a minha avó ainda estava bem e embora muito fininha e curvada, passeava connosco no jardim.

My grandmother died in October 2012. Since then that I have been looking for this drawing. Last week I finally found it inside a plastic bag full of drawings... It took me around 2 years and 3 months, but here it is!

The sentence says something like "My Grandmother has a curve on her back. I'm pretty sure it's a pair of wings". I made it when she was still ok, and although she was a very thin and fragile lady, she would gladly walk with us in the park.

Her name was Maria da Soledade.

Costurando

Era um domingo normal e soalheiro, de final de mini-férias de Natal e Ano Novo quando eu pensei:

- "Que belo domingo! Apetece-me fazer algo relaxante... Já sei vou fazer um pequeno projecto de costura!"

It was a normal sunny sunday, the end of the christmas vacation, when I thought:

- "What a lovely sunday! I want to do something relaxing... Oh, what about a sewing project?"

Como recebi pelo Natal uma agenda branca da Moleskine, resolvi fazer-lhe uma bolsinha para ela não se sujar toda a andar dentro da mochila. Peguei num pano de cozinha da Loja do Gato Preto e num pano de algodão e vai disto!

One of my christmas presents was a white Moleskine 2015 Diary, so I decided to make a little case to keep it clean while I carry it inside my backpack. I chose two fabrics, one was a washing cloth from Loja do Gato Preto, and the other was just a cotton cloth.

 Eu sabia como queria que ficasse o aspecto final desta pequena bolsa, sem bainhas a ver-se, mas não sabia como esconder todas de modo que primeiro juntei os dois tecidos direito com direito, depois virei do avesso e tentei costurar os lados para fechar a bolsa. Ficava super gordo

 - "Tem de haver uma maneira melhor", pensei eu. Desmanchei o que tinha feito e recomecei. Quando achei que tinha encontrado a solução e virei tudo do direito, nada batia certo...

I knew what I wanted my little case to look like, with all the hems turned under and sewn, but I didn't really know how to do this, so I started sewing the two fabrics together then turned them inside out and then sewed again on the side, to "close" the pouch. But it was too thick.

- "There has to be a better way", I thought. So I unmade it and started again. When I thought it was fine, I turned it inside out and it was a mess...

Tentei de novo, e de novo, e mais uma vez...

I tried it again, and again, and one more time...

- "Que camandro!!! Mas hás-de ficar bem feito ou não me chamo ANA!!"

- "What the heck!!! But I will nail it, or my name isn't ANA!!"

Depois de muitas voltas e de uns belos quatro "cose-experimenta-desmancha-tudo" lá vi a luz e consegui acertar na coisa!

After a couple of hours and a at least four "do-it-try-it-undo-it" I finally reached the solution and finished my project!

O resultado foi esta bolsa que podem ver abaixo. Ainda não tem fecho mas que há-de ter :) Sou uma aprendiz de costureira muito orgulhosa!

Coisas que uma miúda faz quando ninguém está a olhar...

Às vezes uma miúda faz coisas... estranhas.

Nº 1 - Correr enquanto segura as mamas (prático para distancias curtas, sobretudo se está em casa e não vestiu o soutien)

Things that a girl does when no one's looking:

Sometimes a gilr does weird things...

Nº 1 - To run while holding the boobs (very practical for short distance runs, speacially if at home and without a bra)

Nº 2 - Dar nomes às maminhas (prático para quem gosta de conversar com o seu corpo - não é a minha cena)

Nº 2 - To name the boobs (suited fot the ones that like to have a chat with you own body - not my cup of tea)

Nº 3 - Dar puns discretamente - Bom, toda a gente faz isto, certo?
